"Fee Increases in Proposed State Budget
As part of the transfer of Scenic Rivers to the Division of Watercraft, a "Waterways Conservation Assessment" fee would be attached to all nonmotorized boat registrations: $5 per three-year registration for personal canoes, kayaks and other nonmotorized boats, and $1.50 per year for each livery boat. This assessment would begin being collected in 2010. Affecting all boat registrations and unrelated to the Scenic Rivers transfer, the Watercraft Registration Agent Writing fee -- currently $3 and attached to the cost of all registrations -- would be raised to $5 beginning in 2010. This is the fee that agents are paid for providing the service of writing boat registrations." Please make sure to thank our government in Columbus for unfunding the Scenic Rivers program and dumping it on the Division of Watercraft. Also, feel free to thank the Division of watercraft for passing this tax increase along to our user group. http://www.ohiodnr.com/watercraft/contact/tabid/2069/default.aspx http://www.governor.ohio.gov/Contact/tabid/153/Default.aspx |
